7 Reviews of Schick Hydro Silk Disposables Razors [Giveaway Closed]

The Schick Hydro Silk razor is unlike any other disposable razor that I've heard of or tried. Typically, disposables are cheap (in price and quality), offer maybe 3 blades and sure don't offer any sort of skincare. I can't tell you the number of times I've nicked my ankle bone or ended up with a bloody knee thanks to the dreaded disposables I used to use. Now, I regularly use the Schick Intuition (review here) but think the Hydro Silk is a much more travel-friendly option.

Schick Hydro Silk has 5 blades that are curved, and combines them with "skin guards" on top of each blade to ensure you don't get your skin caught or cut. My favourite part about it has to be the moisturizing serum. If you've watched my YouTube video about shaving or read any of my previous razor reviews, you know I'm a total slacker when it comes to using shaving cream. It's messy, I always drop it, and I can never seem to remember to replace it when I run out. The Hydro Silk razor has a water-activated moisturizing serum that works while you shave and keeps you moisturized after your shave, too.

The 3-pack that I received is the exact pack available at most drug stores and grocery stores and goes for $13.99. It may seem steep at first, but compared to the 2-blade razors that will leave you dry (and possibly covered in nicks) I'd say it's worth it. Based on the amount of times I shave my legs in a week (cough.. maybe once) a single razor would last me a long time. For the average person who does it every other day or so, you'll probably get a couple weeks out of each razor at least.

Reader Reviews of the Schick Hydro Silk Disposable Razor

Amy says... "The first thing I noticed about this razor was the rubber grips on the handle. It made for a great non-slip surface while using it in the shower. I liked the moisturizing beads on the razor that were released as I shaved. It eliminated the need for shaving gel but I do wonder how many shaves I can get with the moisturizing beads before they dry up. The razor glided smoothly up and down my legs and caught all of the hair leaving me with silky, smooth legs. I was really impressed by the job of this razor! I did feel the need to moisturize my legs after shaving as they felt a little dry. Overall, this is a great disposable razor and much better than the disposable razors I have tried with only one or two blades. The five blades of this razor allowed for a close, comfortable shave. I would definitely recommend this product to others."

Karine says... "I received a Schick Hydro Silk Disposable razor through a contest hosted by TheSkinnyBlondeGirl.com. The first thing I noticed about the razor was how pretty it looks: it has a lovely blue that reminds you of water and the pool side. The grip of the razor is very comfortable and is made in a way that it will not slip through your fingers. It’s quite good for a disposable razor. Now, for the most important part: the shaving. Some razors will be very good at first, but as you use it the hair will all get stuck in the razor. I waited to use this razor at least a few times before writing a review so it would reflect its use. I can say that I am satisfied with it, the shaving was made very smooth with the five curving blades that offers a close shave. There is a serum around the blades that moisturizes your skin while you shave when it is in contact with water. I was quite surprised with this disposable razor and would definitely recommend it. "

Jonnie says... "I loved the quality of this disposable razor. It has a super comfortable handle and the five blades make it easy to get a really close shave without irritating my skin. The water activated moisturizer gave my legs an extra boost of moisture leaving them feely silky and smooth. All of these features make the Hydro Silk feel so much different than disposables I've used in the past. I will definitely be using them while I travel this summer."

Stacey says... "I really like the idea of having a high quality disposable razor. I use them for traveling and keep one in my gym bag. It is light and the handle is very comfortable, it does a very good job on my legs. A nice clean shave."

Myra says... "I must admit I really really like the handle. The ergonomic design is just perfect! Your thumb and fingers would wrap the handle just right. I find this much more comfortable than the usual straight design. I've also noticed that the level of sensitivity of the pivot reacts more quickly than others. This is a bonus with shaving around the knee and such. I liked how the razor would just glide across my legs and noticed how very silky smooth my legs felt afterwards. If I were to recommend this razor to my friends I would give it a 5 out of 5."

Belinda says... "I had the opportunity to try out the Schick Hydro Silk Disposable razor recently and I loved it! The results with this razor were fantastic. With 5 blades my skin was left silky smooth with no irritation or cuts afterwards. I also loved the shape of the handle which fits nicely in your hand and the it was easy to grip while in the shower when it was all wet. This for me is a definite must buy in the future, I am very much hooked. Thanks for the chance to check out this great product. "

Finally, thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway and to the 5 wonderful readers who reviewed the razor and allowed me to post their reviews here on my blog. One reviewer will be receiving a $50 Visa gift card as a second thank you - so check your email because it might be you!
