I've been so excited to get this post up and am happy that I'm finally hitting "publish" and sending it out into the blog universe for all of you to read. I truly believe I've discovered a new "holy grail" daily use makeup product. I've gone through my fair share of makeup primers - both liquid and spray - but am really, really, really in love with this one. It's called "The Makeup Primer Spray" from Skindinavia and this post is all about my first impression of the product after using it for a couple of weeks.
The Skindinavia primer spray is a lightweight, silicone-free formula that feels just like you're spritzing water on your face. It's not greasy, oily or sticky. If you're acne prone or tend to break out from makeup products, this primer may be a really good solution for you. A primer's supposed to create a barrier between your skin and foundation. It should be gentle, not clog your pores and leave your skin feeling hydrated - not bumpy and broken out!
I've been using the primer spray on a daily basis, applying it immediately before applying my foundation. It can be a little tricky because I like to apply my eye makeup before applying my face makeup, but I get along just fine by gently covering my eyes with my hand. On weekends when I only wear foundation, I really like being apply to get a little more liberal with the primer application and let it work its magic on softening and hydrating my skin.
My makeup applies more easily, blends more smoothly and lasts longer throughout the day. It helps avoid my skin developing any oily patches, keeps redness at bay and minimizes the appearance of pores. Aside from the makeup benefits, I've also found that my skin feels softer and looks smoother. Turns out I'm not along, as I recently read that "93% of users agree that the primer spray makes skin feel noticeably smoother." Glad to know I'm not going crazy! ;)
I have the 4oz primer spray that retails for $35, but there's also an 8oz bottle available for $49. If you already know you love the product, I'd definitely recommend spending the extra $14 and getting double the product. It's a hard deal to say "no" to and now that I'm hooked, that's the one I'll be ordering once I run out of this one.
When I first used the product, I was immediately reminded of the "Up All Night" finishing spray by Urban Decay that I had used a few years back. I was curious because it felt so similar, which makes total sense now that I know Urban Decay exclusively partnered with Skindinavia to produce that particular product. I was pretty impressed with my makeup detective skills/intuition!
All Skindinavia products are paraben-free, hypoallergenic and cruelty-free - three things I really, really like to hear. You can learn more about the primer spray over on the official website and, if you're interested, you can order right there too.
