NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation Review (Shade: Siberia)

Recent Buy – NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation Review (Shade: Siberia)

Friends, lately the struggle has been all too real in the foundation department. After my absolute favourite foundation ever discontinued my shade, I've spent a lot of time and money trying to find something to replace it. As I've shared before, matching my "pale but yellow, not pink" skin is near impossible. My go-to makeup brands like MAC and Urban Decay have spectacular foundations but they totally don't match my skin. They're too grey, too orange or just plain too dark. *Daydreams of having beautiful, tan skin*

I was chatting with a Sephora "cast member" on Bloor while waiting for a Facebook advertising session to start and was telling her about my struggle when she told me that NARS recently launched a new foundation called NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I had used NARS Sheer Glow in the past (and Sheer Matte, but it was pretty awful) and thought the Siberia shade worked really well with my skin, but the coverage wasn't as buildable as I'd like.

So, when she told me that this new foundation was super lightweight but full coverage, I grabbed it and joined the line at the cash. Note to self: Sephora cash lineups are the absolute worst in December.

The price is steep at $59/bottle but it's not far off from what I used to pay for Laura Mercier Silk Crème. The Siberia shade is a perfect match for my skin and the consistency of the actual foundation is super lightweight. At first, I thought the cast member had pulled one over on me and actually had sold me something light coverage. But, even though it's very lightweight and thin feeling, it's very pigmented.

The foundation lasts a long time, but I wouldn't say it's quite the 16 hour wear that NARS claims it to be. In my personal experience, it's great for the first 8 hours, OK for the next 4 hours and then really starts to fade from there. When I actually wear it for 16+ hours, it starts to get a little patchy and creases around the eyes - not nearly as badly as Sheer Matte did, but just something to note.

Another feedback I would give to NARS, and advice I'd give to anyone considering this foundation, is that the foundation dries/sets very quickly so you have to work it into your skin much faster than I'm used to. The finish is something in between matte and dewy, although I'd love for it to be a little more on the dewy side - that's one of the things I loved most about Laura Mercier Silk Crème. At the end of the day, NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation is an excellent buy and I'm over the moon to have found something medium/full coverage in a perfectly pale but not pink shade.

Welp, I'm going to go set up for the night. The hubby and I are going to watch Frozen (yes, I know I'm like the last person on the planet to watch this movie) and enjoy some hot chocolate. He's watching it for professional purposes and I'm just using it as an excuse to cuddle up with an extra large mug of hot, liquid sugar.

Have a good night! xo
