Hi friends! I'm writing you after a weekend filled with sun, shopping, biking and (obviously!) coffee. I hope you're having a great week and that, wherever you are, you're enjoying some nice weather too. :)
Until next time,
You might have already seen on Twitter or Instagram, but I've teamed up with one of my most favourite stores in all of Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart, to help Canadians refresh their vanities with some seriously wonderful products. This means that I, also, got the chance to take a long, hard look at my bathroom vanity and say "goodbye" to some products that I really don't use and "hello" to some great new finds, top sellers and hidden gems.
Shoppers Drug Mart put together a Top Picks List filled with just that - New Finds, Top Sellers and Hidden Gems. These are the products that fly off the shelves because those in the know really do know that these products are worth every penny. Take the Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash, for example. I buy this on the regular because I've never met another body wash that leaves my skin as silky smooth yet clean. Plus, its subtle scent is super calming and makes every shower super relaxing. No surprise, Shoppers Drug Mart classifies it as a Top Seller. :)
Speaking of Top Sellers, there's the Olay® Regenerist® Micro-Sculpting Cream Moisturizer which, in total and complete honesty, works. I've been feeling a little run down lately and my skin's been starting to show it (this is what happens when you're a girl on-the-go with an iPhone glued to your hand and refuse to admit you have a cold) and this little baby has helped bring life back into my skin. Its surface is noticeably smoother and it's baby soft. I've used it both at night and morning all week long and would compare the results with a much pricier cream I've used in the past.
Schwarzkopf's Essence ULTÎME Omega Repair 11 in 1 Leave in Conditioner is something I discovered on the Hidden Gem list. I've only used it once but know I'll use it again. It's an intense yet non-greasy leave-in conditioner designed for dry, damaged hair. I'm clearly not a natural platinum blonde (if only!) so, yes; I make a trip to the salon for highlights every now and then. Highlighting, no matter how amazing your stylist, is damaging and you need to use the right products to help combat and prevent further damage. A concentrated conditioner like this one is a great way to do that.
To celebrate the Top Picks List, Shoppers Drug Mart set up an activation at Yorkdale Shopping Centre (and other malls too). This is where I spent part of my afternoon, in between shopping up a storm and taking in the sunset on Lake Shore. The setup was SO cute and the event staff was even wearing pajamas and robes. The colours and decor were an Instagrammer's dream so, naturally, I took some pictures. You can check out some more of them, including those posted by some of bloggers I majorly admire, by searching #SDMTopPicks.
The whole idea of the setup is that you can go and interact with the products while playing the Vanity Mirror Game. You have so many minutes to memorize the vanity's contents, as well as which list category they belong to, and then complete a digital quiz to see how many you can get right. It runs until October 2nd, at which point a winner will be drawn and she (or he) will win their dream vanity valued up to $5,000. Um, yes please!
While at Yorkdale, I also discovered some other Top Picks items and, as luck would have it, stumbled across even more products that I personally already love. Whenever my husband and I stop into SDM, I have to go to the hair care aisle and smell Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Repairing Shampoo. It's the most delicious smelling shampoo I've ever found in my entire life and I'm addicted to the sweet yet creamy fragrance. My hubby actually uses both the shampoo and conditioner!
There are plenty of quality oral hygiene products on the Top Picks List, but since I'm pretty darn set in my ways when it comes to toothpaste I decided to try a new mouthwash. Mouthwash is a step that I've just never made a real habit for myself. I go through phases where I love it and use it and then, all of a sudden, I have a half empty bottle of mouthwash in my vanity that never seems to get used. So, I figured it might be time to try something different - something less intense feeling so that I might actually stick with it this time.
I grabbed the Cool Mint Mouthwash from Sensodyne®. It's a beautiful shade of blue and is designed for sensitive mouths. I like the taste, so I feel like that's progress at least! Hehe.
One more item I want to talk about is one from L'ORÉAL. You guys know I love my dry shampoo and stretching out a good hair day, so this one's right up my alley. If you also love dry shampoo or feel you have oily roots and wish you could get an extra day (or two) out of a good blowout before your next wash, you need to check out L'ORÉAL Paris' Extraordinary Clay Mask. You apply it to your scalp area before you shampoo and, I kid you not, you will notice a difference. I can only use this once in a while because I don't want to dry out my highlighted hair, but I 100% recommend it - particularly before you head out for a weekend getaway.
If your vanity is craving a makeover, or you're just in the mood for a little retail therapy and want some beauty inspiration, be sure to check out the Top Picks List! If you shop it before October 7th, you'll score bonus Shoppers Optimum Points on all the items. Plus, if you play the Vanity Mirror Game at any of the activations set up across the country, you'll be entered to win your dream vanity worth up to $5,000 - no purchase necessary.
Alrighty friends, it's time to go wash my face, climb into my own pajamas and start powering down for the night. Thanks for reading!
